Job Requirements

• Responsible for learning and adopting all kitchen protocol and technique according to House of Umami’s standards.
• Responsible for operating the dish machine and maintaining a clean work space.
• Responsible for working in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assists colleagues in the kitchen with prep duties when applicable.
• Willing to learn and train in kitchen skills to advance to the culinary department.
• Performs shift opening and closing duties as assigned by the manager such as cleaning of dish machine, mopping floors in front and back of house, cleaning kitchen equipment.
• Is knowledgeable about and complies with House of Umami standards on all kitchen Standard Operating Procedures.
• Presents a clean and neat appearance and uses a courteous manner with colleagues.
• Performs other duties as assigned by a PIC.
• Works efficiently and calmly under high pressure and high volume situations.
• Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.

Qualifications Experience and Education:

• Previous kitchen experience in restaurants or hospitality required.
• Previous culinary and chef experiences are a must.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Shift Flexibility: Must be able to work different shifts, including holidays, nights and weekends. Must be able to work overtime as required.

Physical Demands: Must be able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to work under stress, have excellent organizational skills and multi-task throughout shift. Must have a clean, professional appearance with excellent grooming habits. Be able to safely use kitchen utensils and appliances, carry products or equipment occasionally weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
